NEW STUDENTS to Yoga

If you are interested in experiencing yoga, your journey begins by learning as much as you can about the practice of yoga.  The Teachers  recommend you thoroughly review this web site, especially the FAQ Section.  These frequently asked questions will provide you with information about the studio and what our community can offer you as a student in your new journey. Secondly, read the About Living Yoga Section and view pictures of the studio to familiarize you with the facility. Thirdly, to achieve the results shared by our community of students in the Testimonials and Transformations Sections of the web site, LYC recommends a student practice yoga 3 to 5 times each week.  You can begin your practice with fewer classes each week and your results will be slower.  Several  students in our community practice 1-2 times each week. The most important aspect of a "healthy yoga lifestyle" is consistency.  The more you practice yoga the easier it becomes and the results are more dramatic.  The studio offers a variety of yoga classes from 60 to 90 minutes in length.  Review the Schedule & Events Section,   Classes Online or Monthly Schedule to understand the dates and class times for each yoga discipline. Also, review the Rates Section to learn about the class package options available for new students and practicing students.

Enjoy your new journey and you will never regret it!!!!

Yoga Orientation:

Once you decide to experience yoga, we ask that you arrive at the studio 20-30 minutes before class. At the studio, your Yoga Teacher will assist you in the registration process and give you a tour of the studio.  If you want to complete the New Student Registration Form before your first class, you can access a pdf copy by clicking here.  Please bring a bottle of plain water (no energy drinks or colored beverages), a yoga mat and large towel.  The studio rents yoga mats/towels and sells liter size bottles of water. It is best not to wear any cotton clothing.  Most students wear active wear made with lycra or spandex.  Many students wear a head band.  The studio offers an array of yoga wear from Tonic, Yogabela and Shakti, as well as, mats from GAIAM, Breathe and Yogitoes.

Before Class: Please drink plenty of water throughout the day. Try to avoid food 2-3 hours prior to class and too much caffeine. If you are on any medication, please inform the Yoga Teacher the type and reason for the medication.  Towels and yoga supplies are available for purchase or rent.

During Class: Have fun! The postures and breathing exercises will be new to you. Don’t worry about how you look. Do your very best to stay in the yoga room once class begins. If an emergency requires you to leave, please leave and re-enter between postures.  As new students the Yoga Teacher will provide instruction for the postures and assist you during the class.

After Class: We have women’s and men’s showers, and spacious dressing rooms for your convenience. In the reception area you can purchase water, refreshing coconut water and natural hydration tablets.

The Living Yoga studio has fourteen Yoga Teachers and three are pictured below demonstrating a few yoga postures performed in Living Yoga's  Hatha Yoga classes.  The Teaching Staff looks forward to your first visit.  Rest assured they will assist you in making your first visit an enjoyable experience.  It's time to begin your new journey for a "Healthy Yoga Lifestyle."
